Do JAO products contain the preservatives Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT) and Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)?
Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCIT) and Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) are preservatives commonly used in personal care products to prevent microbial growth. They are effective due to their stability and efficacy at very low concentrations. Current cosmetic regulations deem both ingredients safe for use in rinse-off products.
JAO does not use MIT or MCIT in any leave-on products. Some of our rinse-off products contain these preservatives in concentrations well below regulatory limits. When used as directed, these products remain in contact with the skin only briefly, minimizing the risk of skin sensitization.
We continuously review our formulas to ensure they are safe, effective, and up-to-date. Recently, we have reformulated several products to replace MCIT and MIT with alternative preservatives. Additionally, we are in the process of reformulating all JAO cleansing products, which will not only enhance formula stability but also replace both MCIT and MIT.
We approach product reformulation with careful consideration. Despite the challenges, we believe that replacing these preservatives will enhance the performance and quality of our products.
