Hemp seed oil is made from seeds of the hemp plant, which is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species. The seed itself does not have any THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the component that contains psychoactive properties. It does, however, contain high concentrations of CBD (cannabidiol), which is a therapeutic agent for the treatment of chronic pain. It also contains high levels of antioxidants, fatty acids and protein.
Hemp Seed Oil is known as a "dry" oil, as its consistency is light and thin. It helps tighten, tone, and firm the skin. Its astringent properties help minimize large pores. It will also collect and lift dirt away from your pores when used as a facial cleanser.
Hemp Seed Oil has the ability to hydrate and nourish your skin, rich in essential fatty acids omega 3 and omega 6, and great anti-inflammatory benefits that can therapeutically heal skin conditions. It is extremely beneficial for your heart, skin and hair. Hemp seed oil is able to penetrate all layers, and is rich in vitamin D, which is necessary for calcium absorption to help achieve soft, smooth and hydrated skin. It is also high in Vitamin E, and is 25% protein, it stimulates hair growth, and is very beneficial for your hair. Rich in antioxidants, hemp seed oil is a powerful anti-aging natural ingredient for smooth wrinkle-free skin. Hemp seed oil helps improves the skin’s elasticity and water retention in the skin’s tissues thereby keeping skin supple & youthful. Its skin firming, tightening and toning properties also help prevent sagging skin.
Hemp Seed oil does not clog pores at all, which is why it makes an excellent moisturizer for both oily and acne prone skin types. It is safe to use on sensitive skin, even those who have had adverse reactions to other oils such as jojoba or coconut oil on the face. Its fatty acid content help create a protective barrier over the skin which prevents moisture loss. Hemp Seed oil makes a great deep cleanser, dissolving stale sebum and drives out grime, dirt and pollution from deep within the pores. To cleanse your face- massage 1 tsp of hemp seed oil on your face for a minute. Next, soak and wring a washcloth in hot water and dab on your face. Repeat the process three more times, then finally use the washcloth to wipe off excess oil.
Hemp Seed oil gives relief of Eczema and Psoriasis symptoms. These problems are caused by the body’s own reactions to external and internal triggers, but they can leave the skin of the affected areas dry and itchy. Scratching can make matters worse. When the skin is broken, it starts to weep and make crusty deposits. It also makes way for bacterial and fungal infections that can complicate the management of these chronic conditions. The least we can do is keep the affected skin soft and hydrated to reduce itching. Hemp Seed oil helps with this. Also, because it is high in omega 6 fatty acids, it will fight inflammation, and overtime, can diminish dry, itchy patches. Skin rashes are very common in the diaper area of young kids (and adults). The skin may become inflamed from constant rubbing against hard materials, including underwear. Skin to skin friction also can result in chafed skin. This type of contact dermatitis can result in soreness and burning sensation. Doctors usually prescribe zinc-based ointments to reduce the inflammation. Hemp Seed oil is a better alternative to these creams, no need to worry about the chemical substances contained in commercial products which can irritate the skin further. One of the less-known benefits of hemp seed oil for skin is that it can help prevent and reduce varicose veins. This is because it has blood thinning properties, due to its high omega fatty acid content, that help prevent build up of blood on top of the valve. This build-up is what causes the veins appear like they are bulging.
