Do JAO products contain sulphates?
Topics
We use Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (ALES) in several of our hand washes, body cleansers, and shampoos because these sulfate derivatives have proven to be highly effective in cleansing the skin and hair.
However, we recognize that some customers prefer to avoid products with sulfate-based surfactants. To accommodate this, we offer a growing selection of products that do not contain these ingredients.
It's important to differentiate Sodium and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate from their harsher counterpart, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). SLES and ALES are milder and are derived from Coconut and responsibly sourced Palm Oil through the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). They undergo a chemical reaction with oxygen to create a gentle surfactant.
We also ensure that our suppliers use the necessary purification processes to remove any traces of 1,4-dioxane that may form during the ethoxylation process before these ingredients are used in our formulations.
Please note that no JAO products contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).
