We are committed to eliminating waste and enhancing the sustainability of our packaging. Our Packaging team is actively researching refill and circular solutions that provide tangible environmental benefits while maintaining product quality.

As part of this effort, JAO launched a circular packaging solution trial in October 2020 across our stores in Adelaide, Australia. This trial allows customers to return a select number of products once they are depleted. Returned bottles are collected from the store, transported to our Melbourne laboratory, cleaned, sanitized, refilled, re-labeled, and then returned to the store for resale.

In 2021, JAO expanded this initiative with our first In-Store Refill Trial at our South Yarra store in Melbourne. This trial is providing valuable insights that will guide our future expansion into other stores and markets. By December 2022, JAO QV joined as the second location to participate in the In-Store Refill Trial.

Currently, the refillable products include Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash, Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser, and Parsley Seed Facial Cleanser. We plan to broaden this range over time.

While results vary weekly, we are observing a growing trend of customers choosing our refill solution over our rPET alternative, indicating strong customer engagement with this initiative.

Additionally, we offer a replenishment option for most of our 500mL hand and body care cleansing products globally. This option features a screw-cap instead of a pump, allowing customers to reuse their pumps and achieve a 12-gram reduction in plastic per product.
